Privacy policy – Grey Hound

Reading racing odds on Grey Hound involves very little personal data, and only what an information site needs is processed. The UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 apply. The policy fulfils the duty to inform in Article 13 of the UK GDPR.

Controller

The controller under Article 4(7) UK GDPR is the body operating Grey Hound. Its name, address and e-mail address are available at greyhoundodds.com, the same place to send any question on personal data.

Personal data processed

For each page opened, the server logs the IP address, date and time, the address requested, the amount of data sent, the referring page and the browser type. The logs serve security and the spotting of abuse; after 90 days they are deleted or shortened so that they do not point to a person. A message to the editors adds a name, an e-mail address and the text, used only to reply. The site has no reader accounts, deposits or bets, hence no payment data or identity documents.

Bases and purposes

Logs, protection against abuse and replies to messages are based on the legitimate interest in keeping the site working and secure (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR). Non-essential cookies and audience measurement are based on consent (Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR together with regulation 6 of PECR) and wait until it is given. Consent may be withdrawn at any time with no effect on earlier processing (Article 7(3)). The site makes no automated decisions and does no profiling.

Recipients and transfers abroad

Data is never sold. Hosting, content delivery and e-mail come from processors that follow instructions (Article 28 UK GDPR), and public authorities receive data where the law requires. A transfer outside the United Kingdom happens only to a country with adequacy regulations or with appropriate safeguards, such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum (Article 44 onwards).

Data subject rights

A person may ask for access (Article 15), rectification (Article 16), erasure (Article 17), restriction (Article 18) or portability (Article 20), and may object to processing based on legitimate interests (Article 21). The reply comes without undue delay and within one month of the request, and Article 12(3) permits a further two months where necessary.

Retention

Server logs stay for 90 days at most. Correspondence stays until the matter is settled and as long as needed to defend against claims. Sending a message is voluntary, though a reply is impossible without contact details.

Supervision and complaints

The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) is the supervisory authority. Anyone who believes processing of their data breaks data protection law may complain to it (Article 77 UK GDPR).
