About us – Grey Hound
Odds on greyhound racing say something about probability and about how much a bookmaker keeps, and Grey Hound writes about that. It takes no bets, sells no tips and promises no returns, since a bet that is certain to win does not exist.
Where facts come from
Operator facts come from the operators’ own terms, help pages and footers. Legal facts come from statutes and from publications of the Gambling Commission and other public bodies. Prices move fast, so a figure is accompanied by the time and place where it applied. If the sources give out, the point is explained in words and no number is made up.
Verifying a licence
A bookmaker serving Great Britain must hold a Gambling Commission licence, and the Commission’s public register is the test; a brand is on it or it is not. Licensed operators use .com addresses, so the address tells nothing, and a licence from Curaçao, Malta or Gibraltar is not a replacement for the Great Britain one. A site working without it is described as such, with no moral verdict and the plain consequence: no GAMSTOP, no route into the Commission’s complaints process, less protection. Northern Ireland has its own law and is outside the Gambling Act 2005. A high place in an odds table is no licence either.
Who the pages are for
Content is meant for adults in Great Britain, since the betting age is 18, and it does not replace legal or tax advice. Anyone who sees betting taking more room than planned can get in touch with GamCare, GambleAware or GAMSTOP.
